Code.ai launch party at Fred Segal

img_2090I started using Code.ai‘s Lash Extend Serum and Brow Boosting Shaper a little more than a month ago, so when I was invited to attend the brand’s official launch party at Fred Segal Santa Monica, of course I jumped at the chance to go. Food, drink, beauty products and fashion? Yes, please!

While I didn’t take a “before” photo of my lashes and brows (those pictures creep me out, though I’m not sure why), I can say I have definitely noticed a difference, especially with my lashes, which are longer and fuller. Now, I started out with a respectable set of lashes, but now they’re even longer, making it even easier to not have to wear mascara — just curl and go, that’s my motto. As for my brows, I just starting noticing new growth, and the Brow Boosting Shaper has made the existing hairs longer. Tara of When Tara Met Blog, who represents the company and who I served on the Blogger Prom committee with, has been using the brow booster with very noticeable results, so I have hope that this bald patch I’ve been trying to grow in forever will be bald no more.

Code.ai was developed by cancer survivors, so it was designed to be hypoallergenic, nonirritating and paraben-free. It also doesn’t discolor skin, which is something I’ve heard other lash-extending products do. And it’s available over the counter, so you don’t need a prescription.

The launch party was held in Fred Segal’s Studio area, which houses the store’s beauty items. There were also drinks and passed appetizers, though I didn’t have much of either (quelle surprise, I know). But Caroline on Crack has a great post about that stuff.

Celebrity brow threader Marco Ochoa was on hand to provide free eyebrow shaping. Since I have my own eyebrow shaper, I chose not to have mine done by Ochoa, though everyone looked great after a proper threading.

Code.ai’s products are pretty reasonably priced (though not cheap), especially compared to Revitalash and Jan Marini. The Lash Extend Serum is $115, the Brow Boosting Shaper is $75, and there’s also a Lash Extend Primer for $40. The thing is, you have to keep using the products to keep those lashes long and brows full because your hair falls out naturally, you know. According to the Code.ai Web site, one bottle should last you three to four months, so I guess it’s not that big of an investment after all.
