Blogger Prom was AWESOME

Your Blogger Prom committee at the end of the night, exhausted but happy

Blogger Prom 2009 is over. I almost can’t believe it. My fellow prom committee members and I had been working on planning the event for the last couple of months, sending emails back and forth every day, working with sponsors, and countless other little things that made the first Blogger Prom a most-awesome event.

Even though I was working for most of the party, I had a great time — and from the responses we’ve been getting from prom attendees, looks like most people did, too. After reading these posts, I realize I missed out on a lot, but it was all worth it because everyone else enjoyed it so much. Check out some of the party people’s posts:

Kevin Eats
Food Woolf (that’s my denim jacket with the splatter paint and my feet in the black patent leather shoes!)
Uncouth Gormands
EatingLA
LA Story
Franklin Avenue
BlogHer
Confessions of a Fat Girl/Other Musings
South Bay Foodies
Nanciful

The committee’s day started around 1:00 p.m., though I didn’t get to the Andaz hotel until 3:00 p.m., which was just about the time we started assembling the 200 gift bags. My entire body was sore from all the lifting, squatting and stuffing we did, but it was all worth it for the pretty-darn-amazing-if-I-do-say-so-myself gift bags. We finished just in the nick of time to get ourselves into our party outfits (I was still applying make up when the party officially started!).

Anyway, like I said, I didn’t get to try out everything at the prom nor did I get as many photos as I would have liked. So here’s what I got. If you went to Blogger Prom, please add to the Blogger Prom Flickr group!

Even though I didn’t get to meet everyone I set out to meet, those bloggers I did meet were all so cool. We have a great blogging community here in Los Angeles!

A huge thank you to Blogger Prom’s sponsors, including Andaz and RH restaurant; the Cheese Impresario for the amazing cheese; Martin Miller’s gin, Pinky Vodka, Rosangel tequila, Newcastle beer and Fresh & Easy wine for the booze; Jonathan Fong for the totally tubular floral arrangements; DJ WMDeez for the bodacious tunes; and Pure cheesecakes and PolkaTots cupcakes for the dessert (I didn’t even see the cupcakes until I looked at the Flickr photos!). And much thanks to our raffle prize and gift bag sponsors for providing memorable take-home goodies.

Great stuff. 🙂 And ahem, I got there at noon-thirty. So by the time I left at 11, I’d spent 10.5 hours at the Andaz!! MAYHEM.

    Too fun, though.

What a super clever idea Maya! A blogger prom. As a PR gal, I find this so cool! I am Lisa & Diane Scalia’s PR & online marketing rep. Lisa told me about this and I had to see what she was talking about. Looks like it was tons of fun! Thanks for the posting about the Pasadena tour launch. So appreciate it.

Thanks soo much for all your hard work behind the scenes! I’ve put on big events before so I know how it is to stress and work and futz so that everyone else has a good time. Just know that your efforts were appreciated!

Don’t me bummed that you missed the cupcakes; I’m bummed I missed Pauly Shore!!
